Different Types of Designers

Different Types of Designers

Here’s a seemingly exaggerated view on the different types of designers (as demonstrated by Betsy). Of course, this can work on other types of professions.

It’s been a while since my last update as I was working on completing my first episode for my visual novel game. Now that it’s completed, I’m hoping to draw more comics 😊

Hope you’re having a fantastic day!

Earworm

Earworm

Lately, I’ve been getting more earworms every day when I wake up before I go to work.

I’m not sure if it’s my brain’s way of saying Take a break; listen to this tune that you haven’t heard since your high school years.

The last earworm was “Take on Me” by a-ha. Hey, my brain has good taste in music, after all.

Still, I find myself dancing to the tune when it gets worse and I can’t concentrate. Seems to be the method that works for me to get rid of it. Or am I really encouraging my earworm to stay in?

Apologies for the lack of comic updates. If you swing over to my main website, you’ll notice that I’ve been posting my updates on a visual novel that I’ve been creating during NaNoRenO 2019. The game is completed, so it’s expected to be released on March 28, 2019.

Hopefully, I’ll be able to draw more comics until then 😊

What earworms you’ve encountered lately? Would love to hear your thoughts 💭

What Doesn’t Spark Joy (an update about the website)

What Doesn’t Spark Joy (an update about the website)

Yes, I know the Marie Kondo reference is being overused but…this is the best way I can explain my decision on the direction of this blog.

TL;DR: I no longer have the social media, donation, comics page and merchandise page under @lotuscow. All of the posts will be shared at my original creative space @redlotusdesignz.

Long Story ( be sure to have some popcorn 🍿):

For those who are aware – I started the blog and comics under the social media accounts @lotuscow around October 2018. Aside from posting the comics on the blog, I’ve also done so on the social media channels and LINE Webtoon. While it was great, I ended up feeling overwhelmed in updating the content on a separate account when it was meant to be part of my original design account under @redlotusdesignz.

The idea behind Lotus Cow Comics came from at the time when I developed the app Lotus Cow around 2012-2013 (on the iOS and Android platforms). Eventually, I ended up removing it from the store due to conflicts with the original coding. Around that time, I also had a comic series featuring Betsy the Cow (originally known as Moo Times of Betsy) prior to discontinuing the series as I felt discouraged with my art style.

A couple of years later, I revisited the idea and decided to give it a shot – only this time, with a focus on mental health, body positivity and being an introvert. What I love about posting on the blog is the ability to connect with others who are in the same boat as I am and being able to share my experiences.

Rest assured – the comics will remain on this website. Due to the rise of art theft via social media channels, I am keeping them on the WordPress platform as I currently have the plugin to disable right clicking on the image and text. Yes, I know the workaround from others would be to take a screenshot of the comics and reshare them without any credit. My only request is that if you do see the comics, please be sure to have them pointed back to this domain. It’s good karma (and common sense) 😊.

I want to thank everyone who took the time to follow me on my old accounts. My hope is that this change will be more accessible to those who want to continue reading my comics circling these topics. The blog posts will be shared on the new social media channels under @redlotusdesignz. Additionally, I encourage everyone to subscribe to the list where you’ll be notified via email whenever I post on the website.

Let’s keep continuing with the journey, together.

Namaste,
Diana

Currency Exchange

Currency Exchange

While we’re at it, these scam marketers can take my high interest rates on my credit cards if they’re so willing to “promote me” 🙄

Here’s the truth about most artists – we don’t always get paid for our work. At times, we post the content for free as a way to either (a) showcase our talents (b) hoping that someone will support us at our donation/shop pages (c) we post for fun or (d) all of the above. There are a million artists out there who are way better than I am. But we’re all unique in our art styles and our approach on sharing the content.

I draw cows because that’s my thing. I love cows 🐮 I suck at drawing other types of art, but this is my “art voice.” Not many people will be on board with it, and that’s completely fine with me.

Still, it sucks to see so-called “marketers” and other scam folks tricking other people to think that they’ll need to shell out a huge amount of money just to be instantly famous overnight. I believe that everyone’s definition of “fame” is different for everyone.

I’m happy with the amount of followers I have and the comments I receive. Would it be nice to see folks donating a cup of tea if they like my work? Of course, considering my personal and financial circumstances. But I don’t wanna pressure folks into donating if they’re not able to do so. That’s why I highly encourage everyone to like and share my posts if they want to support my content.

Ever had circumstances where others approached you to pay money for instant fame guarantee? Or those social media marketing agencies that use bots? Let me know in the comments below.

Namaste,

Somebody to love

Somebody to love

Husband is currently on a business trip so this is my way of teasing him 🤣 in reality, he’s been doing wonderful by FaceTiming me and making sure that he stays safe.

The visual novel addiction is real, y’all. In all of my years playing video games, I’ve developed a fondness for visual novel games. Though I’m still an RPG gamer at heart (still trying to finish up Octopath on the Nintendo Switch), it’s been a therapeutic experience reading and interacting the storylines. My coworker and friend EB introduced me to Nightshade and goodness, it was so beautiful.

I’ve revamped my goals for this year in terms of publishing my comics. So rather than doing one – four panels, I’m hoping to aim between four to six panels. It’ll be updated every Wednesday (just for me to give some time on working with the artwork).

How has your new year treating you so far? Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

Namaste,
