It’s been a while since I did a comic. Been experimenting with different styles and ended up making it colourful with a bit of a pastel / retro aesthetic.
I decided to create the comics on Procreate since it was easier for me to do the shading along with adding the text. It’s quite a different direction, compared to using Comic Life by plasq.
I created Betsy and baby Betsy for this comic, inspired by my Pillow Pet plush animals. They’re always together, no matter where they go 🐮
Mother’s Day has been quiet, but filled with plenty of sentimental moments since I decided to stay home and celebrate with my family. It was also a dual celebration since my son’s birthday is this week. Can’t believe he will be turning 4 and starting Pre-K this year! How time flies 😨
While I’m grateful & fortunate that I’m able to spend time with my family, my son and being able to speak with my mom – I know that Mother’s Day can be a difficult time for others.
For those who are struggling and doing their best to cope – I want you to know that I’m thinking of you. If you ever need to talk or want to share your experiences about Mother’s Day, I am opening this space for you.
Another year round trip to the Sun. Happy birthday to me 🎂
I don’t have any major plans on my day, except to have a quiet dinner, watch my favourite movies and catch up on my sleep.
Birthdays tend to be a weird moment for me to sit back and reflect. It’s crazy to think that within the one year, I’ve managed to do the following:
- Start up a webcomic blog.
- Create my first visual novel game.
- Get hired by a job that I love doing during my daytime hours.
- Seeing improvements on my artwork after putting it off for quite some time.
On a personal note, it was a time where I’ve been more mindful of my social media usage. As someone who has been struggling with depression, taking a step back from the online world has made me more aware of what’s going on.
I’m thankful to have my family and close friends during this time. Getting older feels a bit daunting. But I’m embracing the new year with hope and a chance to become a better person (whether personal or professionally).
Thank you to those who took the time to wish me well during my birthday. Truly means a lot to me (and Betsy) 🐮
Don’t let the haters get to you. There will be others who will support your journey. Until then, keep on creating. Keep pursuing your passion. I believe in you.
Happy World Kindness Day! Let’s take the time to bring encouragement, positivity and the need to help out others in their time of strife.
What are you doing to make the world a better place today?
